Secondary Sealants

PIB provides the primary sealant in insulated glass windows giving the unit excellent MVTR. The role of the secondary sealant is to provide the mechanical strength to the unit. ADCO offers various options for the secondary edge sealants. Polyurethane-based sealants provide high stability and elasticity along with good water vapor permeability ratings. Polysulphide-based sealants also provide excellent chemical resistance, high stability and elasticity along with good gas permeability ratings. Silicone sealants are particularly suitable for sealing insulating glass units that have exposed edge seals, such as units for greenhouses and conservatories, since they exhibit the best UV resistance along with strength. Whichever secondary sealant you need, ADCO has a solution designed specifically for your process.
