Kodimelt™ TPS®
Description/Overview:

KodimeltTPS® is the ultimate warm-edge spacer for the manufacture of insulating glass units. KodimeltTPS® consists of a thermoplastic elastomer formulated with the inclusion of desiccant for drying the air space between the glass lites. The thermoplastic spacer is applied with the use of patented Bystronic TPS® Application Systems. The recommended structural secondary sealant for use with Kodimelt TPS® is Kommerling GD 116 Polysulfide.

* KodimeltTPS® was independently certified by TNO Science & Industry in accordance with EN1279-3 on 9/1/2006 to a gas leakage rate of 0.1% per year.

Usage/Application Notes:

KodimeltTPS is used for the manufacture of warm edge insulating glass units with varying shapes and air space widths.

The application surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease. For cleaning the glass panes, suitable glass washing equipment must be used. KodimeltTPS® is delivered in "ready to use" state, but must be heated to 120oC (248oF) to 160oC (320o F) and extruded with a patented Bystronic TPS® Line. Preconditioning of the material in a drum warmer may be required for high volume production.

Limitations

• KodimeltTPS® is not intended for use as a structural sealant.

• Only approved structural secondary sealants are to be used with KodimeltTPS®. Consult your ADCO Sales Representative for a list of approved sealants.

Glazing Compatibility

It is recommended that glazing materials be tested for compatibility and that all units be glazed in accordance with GANA (Glass Association of North America) and IGMA (Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance) recommendations. Contact with any solvent, oil, or plasticizer-containing glazing materials should be avoided.
